My Review

My wife and I were recommended this book by our friend and pastor to read and go through together before we tied the knot. Not because we already had problems and needed help, but as a valuable tool to help us understand each other, and understand how we as individuals need love.

In this book, Dr. Gary Chapman, a pleasant southern gentleman to listen to by the way, teaches people about The Five Love Languages. The five love languages encompass the different ways that people show and respond to love. It is told through easy to understand explanation and personal accounts about each language, and really does a great job doing so.

Often books like this will be all theory, or too technical, or my favorite, say a whole lot and expect you to figure out what the heck they really said. Dr. Chapmans Five Love Languages isn’t that way at all. It’s written so that anyone can understand it, and the stories and examples really do help you to understand. It isn’t a dry or drawn out book either, keeping one interested and allowing for time to reflect.

My wife and I found this book to be a very enjoyable listen, as well as a great tool in our marriage. It did teach us a few things about each other and ourselves, and many of it’s teachings still stick with us today.
